The Excel Calculator

This tip relates to the built in calculator that comes with Microsoft Windows.  The tip is, don’t use it -  it stinks!

For those that have never used the Windows calculator, it can be found by clicking the Start Button, then Accessories.

Having a calculator on your computer’s desktop comes in handy when you need to make some quick calculations or do some number crunching.

A much better “calculator” is a simple Excel spreadsheet that provides all of the abilities of a calculator, and then some.  Excel provides the perfect solution.  In addition to simple addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, unlike the Windows calculator, you can copy, cut, paste, save, and print any of your calculations.

When I am at my computer (which is all the time) I have a shortcut right on the Desktop to the Excel Calculator.  And it works better than any standard palm held calculator.

If you would like to try out the Excel Calculator, I would be happy to send it to you.  Just email me and tell me what version of Excel (Office 95, 97, 2000, XP) you have.
